But when Sophie goes to bed wearing Charlotte Mackenzie's locket, she finds herself drawn back 150 years ago to the time of her great-great-great grandmother's childhood. This marvelous tale is woven together with magic, love, joy, cruelty, and great sorrow. It is a great book that has lots of adventure, with wicked uncles, two orphaned girls, sent across the world from Scotland to Australia, magical creatures like Selkies, water horses, elves and fairies, ruined castles, a lost sapphire ring and secret compartments.
